- ABOUT: Jim Jacobi has remained true to his mission of serving up independent garage music for 30 years. His biting sarcasm and witty lyrics that cut to the bone complement his chunky, meaty guitar licks to perfection. He is a voice in independent American music being an outsider looking in, reinventing himself several times. Jim Jacobi began recording in 1977 and released what has been known as one of the first DIY (Do It Yourself) records, called "Victims of the Media" in 1978. Since then he has had 19 other releases. Style: Punk/garage/elecronic/billy/jazz blues with a little ska fun serious in your face and open your mind. Latest News: 2008 release of "It got too Deep!". The 30 year aneversary of the 1978 release "Victims of the Media" with linar notes from 28 year pen pal Jello Biafra. 2009 release of "Cornfield Savages" the follow up to "Too Deep" Band Members: Original Detectors was all Jim Jacobi with guest drummer Herb Hill. Current Detectors are Jim Jacobi on Guitars/Bass/Drumms/Slide/Keys/synths and vocals. Some other members were Melinda Barret/Andrea Burgess/Pete Arenas/Dave Robel/Craig Kingery and others.
